Busy Week

Here’s how my week has been.

  • Sunday I ran 12 miles… On a treadmill… Got a blister on the bottom of my foot.
  • I worked all day on Monday then went straight to class (Managerial Economics). I got home about 10:00 that night.
  • I got up early on Tuesday and rode the bike at the gym for 30 minutes before going to work. I worked all day, then drove to Spring Hill to have dinner with AC*. I got home around 10:00.
  • Yesterday I worked all day then went straight to class again (Financial Analysis). I got home about 10:00.

Tonight I planned on going to a mixer for the Nashville Area Junior Chamber of Commerce, which is an organization for young professionals I’m thinking about joining. However, I just don’t think I’m up for meeting a bunch of new people tonight. I just don’t think I can crank the personality up to the level needed for mingling.

Plus I kind of need to get a haircut (It’s currently borderline “Yuppie Fro”).

*Note: AC is a wonderful girl I’ve been dating for a little while now. Sadly we don’t really see each other all that much though. Our schedules conflict somewhat and to be honest I’ve kind of kept her a bit more distant than I should have. We’ve talked about this and I’m going to try to change that. She’ll probably start showing up on here from time to time.

An Impulse Weekend

Good Things, Recap, What's Been Going On / No Comments

It’s odd to me how some adventures begin. The Friday before last for example, my buddy Scarsi and I were getting a cup of coffee when he mentioned that a friend of his was going snowboarding. Upon hearing this, the two of us decided we should go snowboarding that weekend too. This decision literally took us all of one minute.

We booked a room in Louisville, KY and headed out right after work. Once in Louisville, we got free passes to some local bars where we hung out and proceeded to have a great time. The next morning we woke up, drove 45 minutes to Paoli Peaks, IN and snowboarded all day.

Keep in mind when I say we snowboarded all day, it was more like we fell down less and less as the day progressed. Snowboarding is a really hard sport to learn. However in the five hours we were out there, we went from barely being able stand on the boards to ridding down the mountain 3-4 times.

Then on the way back from IN, Scarsi and I decided since we were being impulsive we should stop at a casino at the state line. Even though I lost $20 playing video blackjack, Scarsi and I had an arrangement that if either of us won over $50 they would buy the other person dinner that night. He won $65.

That was some of the best Arby’s I’ve had.

Ehhh Monday

I’ve been in a really grumpy mood today. It’s kind of weird. My normal cheery disposition toward things appears to be completely gone. Somehow it’s been replaced with this overwhelming sense of cantankerousness.

I guess I’ve just got a case of the Mondays.

I got this link to a book review for The Secret from my friend Michael.

You should really read it.

Keep in mind I’m telling you to read a review for the book The Secret… You know it’s going to be funny.

I Just Felt Like Running

Wednesday night I ran 9.75 miles.

When I’ve told people this I’ve been getting these two responses:

  1. Wow! Good for you.
  2. What you couldn’t run 10 miles?

Shoulder Pain

Good Things, Training / 6 Comments

For the past couple of days my shoulder has really been bothering me. It usually flairs up when I start running a lot. For some reason the muscles just get really tight and I end up in a lot of pain. I normally cope with this by icing it and taking a lot of Advil until it goes away. It’s a crappy system, but it’s all I got.

Monday night however the shoulder was really killing me and I asked the roommate if she wouldn’t mind working on it. Within the first couple of seconds the roommate made it very apparent that she is indeed a PHYSICAL therapist. By no means could you consider this a gentle massage. Actually I may have cried a little as I laid there in agony while she worked my shoulder digging out knots and loosening up muscles.

Even though the roommate made me scream a bit like a girl, I have to say that it was absolutely worth it. My shoulder feels almost 100% better in only a day.

Resolutions

Goodbye 2008… Hellloooo 2009!

I don’t know if I’m confusing resolutions with goals but the idea to resolve to be a better person, save more money, spend less, etc. seem somewhat vague. How can you tell if you’ve accomplished said resolutions if there is ultimately no way to gauge your progress/performance? That’s why this year my New Year’s resolutions are to lose 15 pounds by March 31, run the Music City Marathon, and to send my friends and family birthday cards on their birthdays (This was my resolution last year and it turned out to be a really good thing. Everyone seemed to really enjoy it.).

Also, I’m going to start recycling all my cans and bottles (I had to limit this one a bit so it wouldn’t be one of those vague resolution).
