Last Saturday I went to Big Lots in search of barstools for the island in my kitchen. Sadly Big Lots did not have anything close to what I was looking for. But since I was out I decided to go into Thrift Smart, which is a thrift store that is in the same shopping center as Big Lots.
While there I stumbled upon a huge quantity of neck pillows. I couldn’t help but find the sheer number of neck pillows to be somewhat odd. Especially since the inventory of thrift stores comes entirely from donations.
I guess the lesson learned is that people don’t really need neck pillows.

Tuesday night the girl that I’m “casually hanging out with” called me right as I was getting out of class. We talked for a few minutes and she attempted to tell me about her evening. Unfortunately she wasn’t doing a very good job of being coherent and what she said made very little sense. However, in her ramblings of what she had been up to that night I was able to pick up that she had gone to church. You can imagine how confused I was once I realized that the reason she wasn’t making much sense was because she was kind of drunk.
After having her completely start over I got a story that began with, “So I was on my way to church…”
The tale that eventually unfolded was one that consisted of her not really having the desire to attend church on a Tuesday night, a surprise call from her roommate with an invitation to come to a bar, possibly an illegal u-turn, normal barroom debauchery, a dance party to ensue at her house, and promises of pizza should I attend.
The thing that’s most funny about all of this is that my boss just told me he was worried that I was going to be a bad influence on this girl.

Monday night my buddy Cory and I were hanging out at our friends Melissa and Cristin’s house switching back and forth between watching the Hills and Monday night football.
Because we often play games when we all hang out (cranium, jenga, etc.), during the course of conversation it was said that Melissa and Cory could beat Cristin and me at any activity… Athletic or nonathletic, it didn’t matter. I thought about it a second and then responded with, “Let’s see who can run the furthest”.
That pretty much ended that discussion*.
*Note: I run a lot. I’m talking roughly 6+ miles three to four times a week.

Important background information needed for this story: I don’t watch much TV. I seriously turn on my TV maybe 3 days a week. Even then, I’ll normally only sit and watch it for an hour to an hour and half tops. Because of this I have the most absolute basic cable you can get. Literally its channels 2 – 22 and I don’t get channel 11 which is ESPN.
With that said, Saturday night I convinced myself I actually needed to upgrade my cable because I wasn’t able to watch the Auburn vs LSU game, because it was on ESPN.
Yesterday during my lunch break I tried to call Comcast to get my cable upgraded and the woman I talked to said, “I’m sorry, our system is down at the moment. At this time I can’t upgrade your service. Would you mind calling back in an hour? Hopefully it’ll be up by then.”
I told her thank you, hung up, and took that as my sign that I didn’t really need to upgrade my cable.

Ever since my buddy got an iphone I’ve been infatuated with the idea of getting one too. I love the idea that if I had one I’d be able to use it to keep my checkbook reconciled all the time. Also I love the idea that I could use it to update my website whenever an idea comes to me. I say this because let’s face it I don’t update my website enough and it’s not due to lack of ideas. Of course not to be completely nerdy, I also like that I’d be able to use it as my mp3 player, play games, surf the web, etc. It really is the coolest thing I’ve seen in a long time. I guess it’s a good thing that my birthday is coming up in less than a month.

The other morning on the way to work I saw these two boys waiting for the bus. I watched them for a little while because the older boy was teaching the younger one to either dance, or to juke with style; I’m not sure which.
Either way, it very entertaining.

Today at the Titans game some of the trashiest people I have ever seen in my life sat behind me. While I do love an absurd situation, it was literally a little too much for me. To give you an idea of these people here’s a list of things that they did.
- They had the beer they snuck in confiscated by the users.
- They used the word MFer in every sentence and I mean every sentece. ex: That was a bad MFing call! It’s MFing hot out here. I need a MFing beer. What MFing time is? That’s my girlfriend, she’s such a MFer.
- They talked about how they actually got thrown out of Titans game before… Seriously, how do you even get thrown out of a major sporting event? Seriously?
- Although they were white, they referred to each other as their N word constantly.
- They spilled some random guy’s nachos and laughed about it… I know if those were my nachos, I’d be pissed (I say this because I had some nachos at the game and they were awesome).
- They repeatedly tried to start chants in the stands that were full of obscenities… Mainly MFer.
- They tried to pick several fights with people wearing Jacksonville jerseys. Even old people.
However, to give them some points, I was surprised when one of them used the word “egregious” to describe a call made by the referee. But then he finished the sentence by calling the ref a Mfer.

After the Vandy win over South Carolina last Thursday, I can safely say that $175 investment for Vanderbilt football season tickets was definitely worth it.
I had a blast a blast at the game.

This last weekend while I was at my Dad’s house I was told that since my little brother works at Wal-Mart, I’m eligible to receive his employee discount. All I have to do is give them a special number when I’m checking out, and then like magic, I get 10% off all non-food items.
To be honest I’m pretty ecstatic by this because finally something good has come from his employment there. For over a year now I’ve just complained that since he works there I’m ineligible to take the surveys that print out on the Wal-Mart receipts*.
*If you’ve never taken one of those surveys, they first question is, “Does anyone in your immediate family work at Wal-Mart?” When you select “Yes” is immediately says, “We’re sorry, but you cannot take this survey.”
