A Great Site

I found this website called Garfield Minus Garfield thanks to my good friend Micheal in D.C. Here’s the explanation of the concept from the site:

“Who would have guessed that when you remove Garfield from the Garfield comic strips, the result is an even better comic about schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and the empty desperation of modern life? Friends, meet Jon Arbuckle. Let’s laugh and learn with him on a journey deep into the tortured mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness in a quiet American suburb.”

I really enjoy it.

Like A Moth To A Flame

Last night I attended a couple’s shower for my cousin and soon to be cousin-in-law. Lots of fun was had and I believe that they very much enjoyed being showered with gifts and spending time with all their friends. However, the evening ending somewhat early and I was left flying solo on a Saturday night at 10:00.

Luckily for me a friend extended an invitation to join her and a few of her lady friends in Nashville for some drinks. It wasn’t until we got there that I realized I had somewhat stumbled into a “girls night” of sorts. But always being the optimists I am, I rolled with it and enjoyed the company of four lovely ladies as they bought me beer and danced to Run-DMC with me.

Also, because I’m extremely predictable, when my friend introduced me to everyone, she immediately leaned in and whispered to me, “The redhead is married”. Even still, I couldn’t help but chat her up.

I Fix Things In My Sleep

A couple of weeks ago my cable just stopped working. I called the cable company and had them send someone out. The result of that visit was that it wasn’t my cable that wasn’t working, but rather my Tivo. Without boring you with technical details of why excatly my Tivo wasn’t working, just know that it no longer took the signal from the wall and put it on the TV. So i unhooked it and have been terribly displeased with TV in general ever since.

Apparently last night I had a dream about it, and this morning when I woke up I had this really strong feeling that if I hooked it up differently, I could get it to work. Sure enough, the Tivo works again.

Great Times Because Of Telepathy

Last night when I got home, I ate some dinner, turned on the TV, laid on the couch, and literally fell asleep within 5 minutes. Roughly two hours later I woke up at 9:00 and decided that perhaps I should just go to bed.

After I washed my face and brushed my teeth I laid there in bed and realized I wasn’t really tired anymore. I just took a two hour nap. It was then that my friend Elle randomly called. She said she was going to a bar and asked if I’d like to go; then offered to both drive and pay. Since I’m not one to really say no when pretty girls ask to hang out with, especially when they make the deal so sweet, I got out of bed and went to a bar at 9:30 on a Wednesday night and had a great time.

While this story is a bit different, what I find most odd is that I literally thought about Elle right before she called. I’d like to say that she didn’t read my mind, but she kind of does it a lot.

Twenty Five And Still I Have Crappy Skin

About a month ago I was having some really bad acne breakouts. Since I’m 25, have good health insurance, and was fed up with it, I went to see a dermatologist. He gave me a prescription for some antibiotics, warned me of the dangers of sun exposure while taking them, and told me to come back in a month if I didn’t see a change.

A month went by and I still didn’t have the great skin that I was expecting. So I went back to visit the dermatologist again, and this time he basically told me to be patient because the medicine was working and to quit my whining. Also, he gave me a prescription for another medicine that oddly enough can be used to treat malaria. Also, thanks to wikipedia, I know that it can come in pill form as well as a vaginal suppository.

I’m glad my doctor prescribed it to me in the form of a topical gel.

Poor MTSU Basketball

Not So Good News / 2 Comments

Last night MTSU played Western Kentucky in the final round of the Sun Belt conference tournament. For those of you who don’t know, it was kind of a big deal. For one, Western Kentucky is one of MTSU’s biggest rivals, and two, the winner of that game got an automatic ticket the NCAA tournament, aka “The Big Dance”.

I was stoked!

Since I only get roughly 15 channels, and ESPN2 isn’t one of them, my friend Amy and I went to Jonathan’s to watch the game.

Even though I pulled hard for them to win, at the end of the day MTSU sucks and they ended up losing 57 - 67.

It was quite upsetting and already I can feel my March Madness subsiding before it really even began.

Saturday Night, New Band

Because I’m white, and being a fan of a band before they get popular is one of the most important things I can do with my life*, Manish and I went to 12th and Porter last night to see a random band that I found on MySpace called Shirock.

While I enjoyed the show very much, Manish made the connection early on that they sounded very similar to U2 and therefore wouldn’t give them a break. His reasoning was that while they have a different sound than most other bands right now, U2 could rock these guys into the ground**. However, he really enjoyed the opening band, which I thought totally sucked. But I guess to each his own.

*An important note that I will forever hold over people’s heads is the fact that I discovered Maroon 5 way before they were famous.

**An odd fun fact about me: I despise U2.

Confirmations

Yesterday my boss was traveling back from a business trip and he had to change his flight a few times due to various weather conditions. Since his office phone rolls over to mine if he doesn’t answer, I received several automated calls informing me of his flight changes and a confirmation of the change.

The funny thing about the automated calls were that the confirmation number they kept giving me began with a “P” and it would say, “P, as in Papa”.

Note: Now that I just wrote this; I see that it’s really not that funny. Oh well.

Wrong Numbers

In the past two days I’ve been called three times by someone who had the wrong number. The first was a black guy who talked like he had rocks in his mouth. The second was a guy who I thought I knew, but it turned out I didn’t, and the third was a guy named Larry Wilkins.
