Because Blades of Glory was sold out, Heather and I watched Stranger than Fiction tonight. Although it may seem that we were jonesing for some Will Ferrell, surprisingly it was just a coincidence.
Before this movie ever came out, I had read an article in a magazine about it. The article provided very little about the concept of the story. However, it did go into detail about the use of visual graphics during the film and how it visually displayed the main character’s, Harold Crick played by Will Farrell, obsessive compulsive disorder.
This article plus the many previews that I had seen for this movie made me definitely want to see it. Unfortunately when it came out I remember people giving it mixed reviews and this somehow committed itself in my brain and caused me to develop this silly idea that perhaps this movie wasn’t all that great.
Much to my surprise, this was a truly great movie. It was funny, smart, witty, heartfelt, touching, enjoyable, and all around just good. If you’re not doing anything one evening and are in the mood to watch a nice movie that will make you smile, I definitely recommend this film.
Final score: Five cow bells out of five.
