Tonight while Heather and I were at Genghis Grill enjoying our Mongolian feast you’ll never guess who would happen to walk in. None other than MJ from MTV’s Real World Philadelphia. I know it’s not that big of a deal because he’s actually from Nashville, but after you watch someone on TV for a few months you kind of feel like you know them.
Although we decided against it Heather and I wanted to introduce ourselves just to let him know that after what we’ve seen on TV, we thought he was a cool guy. But we were eating and he was there with his mom and it just would have been rude. So we just left with our bellies full and we chalked him up there with Darrell on our list of MTV Real World cast members we’ve seen.

Today while in the checkout line of the grocery store I somehow got behind two large women who were buying a handful of necessities. Random things like watermelon, fruit roll ups, and beer. Normally like most people when there is enough room on the checkout line belt I’ll grab the grocery separator bar and unload my cart, cramming as much stuff on there as physically possible. Today however when I went to reach for the grocery separator bar I unexpectedly noticed that it was being covered by a huge bag of extra strength maxi pads.
Being the gentleman that I am, I decided to wait until the ladies in front of me had their groceries completely bagged before I went moving their items around and unloading my cart.

Here is my idea for a new product, but because I have no money and no resources you’ll probably never see it unless someone swipes it. Just remember I came up with it first.
Product Name: Music Master 5000
Purpose: A game to teach people how to play music
How It Works: Essentially the Music Master 5000 is a just complex electronic tuner. To begin one must play a series to notes to ensure that their instrument is in tune and the Music Master 5000 can clearly understand the notes being played. Once the Music Master 5000 and the person playing are in sync the Music Master 5000 begins by slowly displaying a note on its screen that should be played. If the person playing gets it right the green light comes on and the Music Master 5000 moves forward to the next note. However, if the person playing gets the note wrong the red light comes on and a loud buzzer will sound. The idea is simply for the person playing the Music Master 5000 to learn the location of the notes and how to read the sheet music being displayed. Once the person playing has mastered a few notes the Music Master 5000 advance the game and will go into song mode. Song mode is when the Music Master 5000 will display the notes of a song at the tempo it should be played. The person playing just simply has to keep up and try their very best not to miss a note or the red light and buzzer will come on and the song will start over. The Music Master 5000 starts off very slow with simple songs such as Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and will eventually become so advanced that even the most skilled musicians might find difficulty keeping up.
Why This Product Would Be Successful: By displaying one note at a time in the tempo it should be played, people playing the Music Master 5000 will make dramatic progress without even realizing it. While they are concentration on one note at a time everyone else around them will be able to enjoy the beautiful music they are playing. Also because it is set up in a game format the person playing my not realize that the skills that they have been using have just taught them how to master the notes of their instrument and to read music.

With all the millions and millions of dollars that George Lucas has spent advertising his new movie I feel a little sad that I haven’t seen it yet. I’m not really even that big of a Star Wars fan. I have just been convinced that I need to see this movie purely because of the media. In fact as I type this I can hear a commercial with Darth Vader trying to convince the M&M’s to join the dark side.
I’ll give it about another week so that the “booger pickers” who need to dress up to see this movie for the 15th time will have a chance to go back to the comic shops and game stores where they belong. Until then I can settle for getting my Star Wars fix from this truly amazing website.

You know why most people don’t generally say they want to be painters when they grow up? It’s because it’s hard tedious work. It’s boring, you get really messy, and you ruin you pants. Also it’s a scientific fact that time slows down when you’re painting. No matter if you’ve been doing it for 2 hours or 10 it always feels like twice that amount. So while you’re busy working your butt off painting, time has slowed down for you and the whole rest of the world is rapidly going by. The lesson to learn here is, if you want to really live a long life you should be a painter. You won’t be happy but you may live forever.
Point: The reason I’m saying all this is because I spent a few hours today painting a retaining wall at the local boys and girls club. Today was the “day of caring” for my department. That means this is the day where were go and help the community.
So community you have officially been helped. I hope you enjoy it.

In case you somehow missed the most important part of this news story I found on Yahoo, let me just hit the high points for you. This guy sold this piece of toast on Ebay for $15,400! There isn’t even anything special about it! He just scraped off a stupid doodle with a butter knife! That’s it!
This news story has caused me to have an epiphany. This whole toast thing is going to be my contribution to the top of the stupidest things on the internet pile. Mark my words; I’m going to make some money off of this. I’ll post more within the next day or two to fill in some of the gaps.

Heather and I went to the grocery store tonight to pick up some steaks for dinner. This being the first time we’ve just decided to just pick up steaks we were a little uncertain on what we should get. After a little looking and much debate we ended up with two huge aged Angus rib-eyes that were $12 a steak. Luckily for us, today was the last day that Kroger was allowed to sell these steaks and we were able to get them for $5.50 a piece.
We brought these sides of beef we had bought home, and although I’m sure they didn’t need it, I started marinating these massive pieces of meat in anything and everything I could find. Dashes of this, sprinkles of that, and before you know it my kitchen was floating in the sweet aroma of spices and herbs. If you had happened to come over while all this was going on you might believe that I know how to cook something other than pop tarts and ramen noodles.
While my two whole cows marinated I took the time to look up the best way to grill steaks on the internet. Five sites and hot grill later I was ready to cook these monsters. Also by this time the growling in my stomach was making it extremely hard not to go ahead and eat these steaks a little extra rare. With my tongues in hand and a little know how in my brain, I was ready to try out a little grilling magic.
I placed the steaks on the grill at a 45° angle to the bars. I grilled them for 2 minutes, before rotating them 90° so that it would make some nice crosshatch grill marks. Then after a good 10 minutes I put my back into it and flipped those steaks. After another 90° turn and another 10 minutes later I thought I was done. I had followed the directions to a T. My steaks were still a little spongy when I put them to the press test but I thought it would be okay because liked my steaks a little rare.
When I brought them in the house I found that they weren’t cooked at all in the middle. Discouraged, I took them back out and continued to grill them for ten more minutes. Again they still were not done. Finally I took them back out to the grill for the last time and left them there. I decided that this whole “watching them” thing I was doing really wasn’t working for me. I kicked back on the couch and watched TV as these steaks seared and cooked downstairs.
40 minutes after I had started cooking these steaks, they were ready to eat. I don’t know if I mention that these steaks were big pieces of meat? In the end, it really was all worth it. I think I’m going to have to elevate these steaks to the top of the “most tastiest things I’ve ever cooked” list. They were definitely worth the trouble and $5.50 I had put into them.
