I noticed yesterday, when the weather was perfect and the sun was shining, that this was going to be a rough year for me. It’s been happening to me more and more every spring as I’ve gotten older.
I’ll be driving down the street, windows cracked, minding my own business, when I’ll see some guy on a motorcycle. Immediately my imagination takes over and it’s all I can do to focus my thoughts from what it would be like to have a bike, to the task at hand, which is simply driving.
I’ve been wanting a motorcycle so bad for so long now. Every year I tell myself “maybe next year I’ll have enough extra money to buy one”, and every year I don’t.
I’m sure that one day I will finally save up enough money and buy one, but until then I guess I’ll just have to dream.

If you’re looking for me next week, I won’t be that hard to find. Just look for the guy with his nose buried in a book for 8 hours a day. I’ll be him.
I have a test on Tuesday, a project due on Wednesday, and then another test on Thursday.
Luckily for me the teachers that are giving the two tests next week both allow their students to bring in “Study Sheets”. Basically they let you write anything and everything you can on a single sheet of paper (front and back) that might be helpful on the tests.
With a little luck and a whole lot of writing I’ll ace these tests and not have a care in the world for spring break. However, until then I’m still going to be really busy.

It’s gotten me again, this horrible beast I so lovely call my addiction. When I was younger it grabbed a hold of me so tightly I thought I would never get away. It consumed my body and mind. Always present, always lingering there in the back of my head, pushing me, begging for me to quench my thirst and calm my cravings.
Now this morning I can see that its back. I woke up, mouth parched, thirsty, needing something to drink. Sadly there was only one thing that I wanted. If even just the tiniest drop on my tongue so that I may have just the smallest of taste would have been more than enough.
I wasn’t really so much worried about needing to get to class this morning, but more so, how I was going to get what I needed, especially since my girlfriend needed to borrow my car today.
I was at a loss. I thought I was going to start shaking and going through withdrawals like those of an alcoholic.
I needed a diet Pepsi so badly.
When I opened my refrigerator I was in astonished to see one last can of diet Pepsi sitting there on the shelf waiting for my consumption. Like a detoxing junkie, I guzzled it down and sat there in the realization of what I had become.
This is the second time in my life that I’ve had this unrelenting yearning for Pepsi. The first time I ended up going cold turkey and kicking the habit for what I hoped would be for good.
Perhaps that’s what I’ll have to do this time as well. Except for now it’s so good. I don’t know that I’m ready to give it up just yet. I mean I’ve only had it for a week or so. Maybe I’ll just hang on to it for a few more weeks. Then we’ll see what I need to do with my precocious.
We needs our precocious.

Three weeks ago I was out with my friends at the usual establishment that we frequent on Friday nights, when my girlfriend pointed out a dollar bill laying on the floor. Not being one to throw away money I picked it up, put it in my pocket, and was clearly in a better mood for the rest of the evening.
The next Friday we were at the same establishment when I just happened to look down to find a ten dollar bill laying there with no one around to claim it. Once again I picked it up, put it in my pocket, and obviously was in a better mood for the rest of the evening.
Then most recently on Thursday evening I stopped at a gas station to pick up a 32oz. fountain drink on sale for $.52. While I was at the gas station I cashed in a free lottery ticket that I’ve had for some time now. When I scratched it off I was astonished to learn that I won $21. After showing all my friends my accomplishment I picked it up, put it in my pocket, and naturally was in a better mood for the rest of the evening.
At this rate I’ll be able to quit my two jobs by the end of the summer and just live off my luck. Sadly however, I know by me writing this that my luck will probably come to a screeching halt as soon as I post this.
Then again, you never know.

It started off 5 weeks ago as a bet between me and my workout partner. Both of us being fed up with working out and not seeing the results we wanted, we decided that we needed to try something different. After hearing a story from my boss about her and her husband weighing in at the gym one week, and joking that it was a contest about who could lose the most weight. I got the idea that this was something that my workout partner and I should try.
We called the contest “The biggest loser” because of the TV show with the same name and it was essentially the exact same concept. The original idea was that every Friday we would weigh in and whoever lost the most weight that week would be the winner. Then that evening the loser would have to buy the winner a drink or something else equivalent to no more that $5. Then after a four week period of the contest we would have a final weigh in and the overall biggest loser (whoever lost the most weight) would be the champion of our contest and would receive a free dinner that evening picked up by which ever one of us didn’t win.
The contest started off great. It was a fantastic motivator. I started watching what I ate by counting the calories and overall trying to say away from anything I knew wouldn’t be good for me. Like any diet I wasn’t able to stay on it 100% of the time and there were occasion where I did slip off here and there, but overall I pushed through it and I’ve kept it up.
Although now that it’s been 5 weeks since we started the contest we actually ended it after two. My workout partner started to see the results that he wanted by increasing the amount of cardio he was doing but never actually losing any weight. Now he is somewhat of a running machine.
Although I haven’t totally been able to keep up a steady schedule of cardio every week I have increased the amount of time and distance that I am able to run. Also starting this week I’ve decided that every day to throw some pushups and sit-ups into the routine and I am now slowly working on some personal goals with that. I plan on staying with the diet until I am able to reach my goal weight. Then I’m going to try and adjust it accordingly so that I will be able to maintain what I’ve worked for. I see now that the reason that I put on so much weight wasn’t because of lack of inactivity but because of poor choices I’ve made when eating.
In case your wondering here is a chart of my weight lose:
| Week 1 (start weight) |
232.4 |
| Week 2 |
227.4 |
| Week 3 |
223.3 |
| Week 4 |
221.6 |
| Week 5 |
219.6 |
| Overall |
12.8 |

Every time I redesign my website I always seem to title the first entry “A New Day”. It’s just something I do and so far it’s worked well for me. After having the layout for my last site for over a year now I’ve long since past wanting to change things around. I’ve just been holding off until my good friend inspiration came to pay me a visit. As you can see things have changed a little bit around here.
Mainly the biggest change has been the behind the scenes stuff. The inter workings of my website you might say. Before when I wanted to make changes to this beast I would fire up my trusty old html editor, peck away for a few minutes, then upload the finished product straight to the interweb. Now however I’ve installed a little program on the web server called Moveable Type. Basically now I can make any and all changes through any web browser anywhere. Also now because I’ve done it this way, you as the reader of my website can now post comments about what I’ve written. It’s a beautiful thing and I hope that you like it.
To start this new website off right I’m going to propose a blog off. So from here until the end of the month I’m going to post something new to my website everyday for the next 11 days. Hopefully that will bring back some of my readers who have dwindled off from my inactivity.
But as of right now there are still a few things that could use some more tweaking, so I will be working on those when I get some free time.
I hope you like my new site and please feel free to leave a comment and tell what you think of my new design.
